Follow the Workout: Integrated Stabilization Training

Ok, here I go.  Let’s get this show on the road!  The first training phase is Integrated Stabilization Training.  I performed this workout on Thursday 9/23/10.  This was the first of 4 weeks of IST training.  Over the next 4 weeks, I will not change the content of the workout, but I will strive to increase my weight and reps.

The goal of this workout is to build a fitness foundation by challenging balance and muscle endurance.  As the name of the phase implies, I am incorporating stabilization into traditional strength training exercises.  For example, I am performing a dumbbell chest press on a stability ball.  It’s not just the weight in my hands that makes the execise difficult.  It’s the fact that I have to control my body on the ball!
